Custodian Vacancy
We are looking for a responsible custodian to maintain and protect our facilities. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs.
The duties include but are not limited to:
· Sweeps, mops, waxes, and polishes floors.
· Washes walls, windows, and woodwork.
· Dusts and polishes furniture and equipment.
· Empties trash baskets and garbage cans.
· Cleans restrooms (sweep, mop, and sanitize toilets)
· Replenishes restroom supplies.
· Sets up rooms for meetings, conferences, and other events.
· Cleans and polishes brass and other metal work.
· Vacuums and cleans rugs and carpeting.
· Buffs floors.
· Cleans sidewalks.
· Picks up paper.
· Assists in making minor repairs to buildings and equipment.
· These duties are general and will consist of other duties assigned by supervising administrator.
Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting the alarm
Attention to detail and conscientiousness
Able to lift 25 pounds
Very good physical condition and strength
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a high school graduate from a regionally accredited school, have GED equivalent, or have completed an accredited job training program such as: Project SEARCH, Volunteers of America, AL Department of Rehabilitation Services, etc.
· Must have the ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
· Must have knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment, and procedures.
· Must be able to use and care for cleaning equipment.
· Must have sufficient physical strength and ability to perform a variety of routine custodial tasks.

Duty Days: 176 days (10 month employee)
Position: Full Time
